VIETNAM, December 20, 2017. Vietnam's GDP grew 6.81 percent that year, the highest rate in a decade, driven by manufacturing and services. Agriculture still employed nearly half the workforce and contributed roughly a fifth of GDP. Chili is a staple cash crop for thousands of rural households in the Mekong Delta and surrounding provinces, harvested from September through March.
