Our Story

THROAT is a collective of artists, activists, storytellers, journalists, and researchers who believe the people closest to the world's most consequential issues are also best positioned to explain them. We cover peace and conflict, basic freedoms, economic justice, identity and culture, climate and environment, and independent media and surveillance.

The platform exists for the important work that goes unseen, unheard, or unperformed: artists operating outside the reach of commercial distribution, journalists and conflict photographers working in restricted and hostile terrain, and activists and civil society advocating for policy change.

Work published here is verified human, economically supported, and editorially serious. The collective keeps the lights on. Our stakeholders keep the record straight.
